Fast Track Program

The fast track program is designed for patients who are eager to move forward with treatment and want to make the most of their initial consultation. In a standard treatment cycle, the patient meets with a physician who reviews their medical history and prescribes tests which are required to establish an individual treatment plan. With our Fast Track program, an IVF coordinator in conjunction with a physician will review your case prior to your initial consultation and establish a regimen of tests that you can complete prior to your initial consultation. This will allow the physician to deliver your personalized treatment plan during your initial consultation. The end result is that, if you decide it is appropriate, you are able to start treatment sooner.

If you are interested in registering for the Fast Track program, please call (858) 552-9177. An IVF coordinator from our office will assist you in the scheduling of these tests prior to your initial consultation.

Diagnostic Testing to Complete for New Patient Visit

Semen Analysis and Semen Culture:
The semen analysis examines the count, motility and morphology of the sperm. This test MUST be completed in our laboratory Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 10:30am. For an adequate sample, you must have at least 2 days of sexual abstinence but no more than 4 days prior to the collection. To schedule this test please speak with your treatment coordinator directly or call our office at (858) 552-9177. We prefer the specimen collection is completed at our facility; however, if you wish to collect the sample at home, please let a member of our staff know in order to provide you with a collection kit. Please keep in mind the sample must be brought to our office within 30 minutes of the collection time. Results take approximately one week from the time of the collection. Depending on the results of the semen analysis, a second test known as an Anti-Sperm Antibody test may be recommended by your doctor.

A semen culture is also performed using the same semen collection as the semen analysis.

Baseline Follicle Stimulating Hormone and Estradiol Levels (FSH/E2):
This test is used to evaluate ovarian function. This test is completed via blood draw which is performed on cycle day 2 or 3. To schedule this test, please wait until cycle day one (day of full flow bleeding) then call your treatment coordinator directly or our office phone at 858-552-9177. Results take up to 7 days from the date of collection. If you have completed this test within the last six months, you do not need to repeat it.

Anti-Mullerian Hormone Level (AMH):
This test is used to evaluate ovarian function. You will be given a requisition to have this lab drawn. The requisition will allow you to go to any LabCorp facility or drawing station to have the required blood draw completed. No fasting is necessary. Results take approximately 5 days from the date of collection. This test is only required if you are 38 years of age or older, and if you have completed this test within the last six months, you do not need to repeat it.

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG):
This test uses x-ray imaging to indicate any damage or blockages in your fallopian tubes. It can also highlight the shape of the uterus. Radiopaque dye is injected into your uterus which then travels up through the fallopian tubes and spills out into the abdominal cavity. This test can be uncomfortable. In preparation for the exam, it is recommended to take 400-800mg of Ibuprofen approximately one hour prior to the procedure.

This test is completed through Imaging Healthcare Specialists, formerly known as RMG. To schedule this test, please wait until cycle day one (first day of full flow) then call Imaging Healthcare Specialists directly at 619-849-9729. This test must be completed between cycle days 7-10 (after menstrual bleeding has stopped but before ovulation). Your treatment coordinator will give you an antibiotic prescription of doxycycline to take in preparation for this procedure. Results take approximately 2-3 days from the date of the exam. If you have completed this test within the last year, you do not need to repeat it.

Infectious Disease Screening (for both partners):
HIV I/II, HTLV I/II, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen, Hepatitis C Antibody, RPR
These tests are required prior to any treatment in our office. This includes both intrauterine inseminations (IUI) as well as in vitro fertilization (IVF). For the male, these tests are required by CA state law. We will not perform any insemination or IVF without these results. It is strongly recommended to have these labs completed as soon as possible to avoid any delays in your treatment.

These tests are completed via blood draw and can be drawn at our office. All tests are sent to LabCorp for processing. Alternatively, your treatment coordinator can provide you with a requisition to take to your outside physician to have ordered; however, we cannot guarantee that your outside physician will order these tests or that they will be covered by your insurance. If you have completed these tests within the last year, you do not need to repeat them.

Preconception Screening (for female):
Rubella, Varicella, ABO/Rh (blood type), Cystic Fibrosis Carrier Screening
These tests are STRONGLY recommended prior to any treatment in our office. This includes both intrauterine inseminations (IUI) as well as in-vitro fertilization (IVF). It is strongly recommended to have these labs completed as soon as possible to avoid any delays in your treatment. If your rubella and/or varicella tests come back with a negative (non-immune) result, you must wait one month from the time of vaccination until pregnancy (ie. embryo transfer or IUI).

If you have completed these tests within the last five years, you do not need to repeat them.

"My husband and I went to UCSD Reproductive Partners by recommendation of a medical friend. Their success rates are the highest for IVF. Our previous IVF/FET experience at a different center was not too good. We visited a couple of other places and decided to go to UCSD. We met with Dr. Agrawal and really liked his professionalism, knowledge and patient care manners. We have been undergoing fertility treatments for several months. During this extremely difficult time, we have felt great support, good communication and the fact that their team is just fantastic. Tiffani is my nurse and she has been with us every step of the way, easy to speak with, and understands our hurdle. I have also received treatment from Dr. Garzo and he is amazing, really nice person and caring. With our busy schedules it has been very helpful that the appointments are very quick, in and out. All the staff has been great to us during this very stressful part of our lives. I highly recommend Reproductive Partners UCSD!!!"
