The Fertility Preservation Program provides consultation, as well as a comprehensive set of preservation options for patients facing fertility-threatening medical treatments.

San Diego, CA – December 2, 2010 – The Reproductive Partners – UC San Diego Regional Fertility Center in partnership with the UCSD's Moores Cancer Center announces the launch of their Fertility Preservation Program.

The Fertility Preservation Program provides consultation, as well as a comprehensive set of preservation options for patients facing fertility-threatening medical treatments.

"Many therapies that improve survival for cancer patients have side effects including loss of fertility and early menopause," said Dr. Su, a physician and reproductive epidemiologist at Reproductive Partners. "Advances in reproductive technology, including our new egg vitrification program, provide excellent options for preserving fertility."

Fertility preservation options through the new program include embryo and egg freezing, ovarian tissue banking, referral for sperm banking, assisted reproduction, egg donation and surrogacy. The Reproductive Partners – UCSD Regional Fertility Center has some of the top success rates in the country for these procedures giving patients real hope for fertility preservation.

"Whether patients have already survived cancer or are still facing that fight, we want them to know they have options," said Dr. Su. "The Fertility Preservation Program provides comprehensive explanation and support, helping patients navigate through those options based on their individual circumstances, while minimizing the time they have to wait for treatment."

"Our partnership with UCSD has allowed us to build a team of experts in reproductive endocrinology, gynecology, oncology, genetics and psychology," explained Dr. Garzo, founder of Reproductive Partners – UCSD Regional Fertility Center. "The close coordination between treating physicians and the reproductive specialist is central component to family building options for our patients."

"As a fertility center partnered with an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center and the national Oncofertility Consortium, we have the expertise to work across medical disciplines to undertake fertility preservation procedures safely and effectively for our patients."

Reproductive Partners – UC San Diego Regional Fertility Center is now accepting new patients for the Fertility Preservation Program.
