The uncertainty of the fertility treatment outcome, the sense of a lack of control, and the probing questions from friends and family, can make fertility treatment an extremely stressful experience. When treatment cycles end in disappointing news, like no pregnancy or a pregnancy loss, the emotional effects can be devastating. Recognizing the signs of stress before they become excessive can make a huge difference in maintaining healthy relationships, and having a better chance to achieve your dream of having a healthy child. We at RPMG actively encourage our patients to seek health-promoting, stress-reducing activities like yoga, exercise, meditation, or acupuncture. Some patients will find stress relief through support groups such as Resolve, or through a Mind-Body program. Others seek counsel through referral to a psychologist who specializes in infertility. The bottom line is that individuals/couples and we as physicians need to recognize the importance of integrating effective methods of stress reduction into the treatment process. RPMG is dedicated to helping you achieve this goal.

The Importance of Single Embryo Transfer in In Vitro Fertilization

UC San Diego Regional Fertility Center and Dr. Gabriel Garzo will be hosting Grand Rounds OB-GYN. "The Importance of Single Embryo Transfer in In Vitro Fertilization," will provide a forum for participants to discuss topics on infertility and the history of in vitro. In addition, Dr. Garzo will describe current and forthcoming options for successful single embryo transfer and shed light on the risks associated with multiple births.

Grand Rounds will be held in the Schaetzel Center at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla on September 27, 2011 from 8:00-9:00 am.

New IVF Cost Calculator Helps Estimate Cost of IVF Treatment

Today we launched our personalized IVF Cost Calculator. This new tool guides you through dozens of options that potentially affect the cost of IVF treatment, identifying which ones are applicable to your case and explaining each cost related item. It is our goal to provide you with a more accurate cost estimate for IVF treatment even before you come in for your initial consultation.

Many clinics do not include cost of medication, initial tests and other important factors that should be factored into the total cost estimate. They try to low ball an estimate and then explain away the differences after the fact.

Our approach to treatment is different. Just like with our success rates, we believe in transparency and setting your expectations appropriately right from the beginning.
